This is a simply wonderful handachi koshirae executed with Aoi mon. All fittings are in iron with gold karakusa. The saya is exquisitely lacquered with abalone and decorated in Aoi leaves and vines. The tsuka has high quality same and done in jabaramaki (strong wrap). The menuki are in of Noh dancers. The tsuba is iron sukashi with two geese and waves.
This koshirae was purchased from Robert Hughes/Keichodo at the Tampa Sword Show (I believe in 2005). There is also a matching sword bag. This is a beautiful koshirae that displays well and would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
