Washū Shikkake
Ō-suriage mumei nari. Itame ga masa-gakatte nagareru no hada-ai ni gunome no tsureru iwayuru Dō’ei yakiba no

fuzei aru midare o yaki. Shikiri ni hada-ai ni kuramu hotsure, sunagashi, yubashiri, nijūba nado no keshiki o shokusei-
shi jiba tomo nie-zuki. Hakikakete yakitsumeru bōshi ni musubu nado Norishige no tokushoku ga meiji-sareshi yūhin

The blade is ō-suriage mumei and shows an itame that tends to masame-nagare and a hardening in midare that is
composed of connected gunome-midare and that appears as a so-called Dō’ei-yakiba. Interwoven with the hada

structure are many hotsure, sunagashi, yubashiri, and nijūba and with ji and ha being nie-laden plus the yakitsume-
bōshi with its hakikake, we have here a masterwork which displays the characteristic features of Norinaga.
