Unokubi-zukuri is a distinctive Japanese sword blade geometry that features a notable thinning of the mune (棟, spine) in the middle of the blade, resembling the slender neck of a cormorant (鵜, uno)—hence the name. This design reduces weight while maintaining a reinforced structure near the tip, making it a well-balanced form commonly found in tantō (短刀), wakizashi (脇差), and occasionally katana (刀).
