Kenukigata-tachi (毛抜形太刀) is an ancient and rare sword design from Japan’s Heian period (平安時代, 794–1185), notable for its distinctive openwork tang (nakago, 茎), which resembles the shape of a hairpin (毛抜, kenuki). This style was primarily used for ceremonial and high-status weaponry, rather than practical battlefield use.
