This is a beautiful and flawless katana papered to Sagami (no) Kami Kunitsuna. Kunitsuna was a very well respected smith of the Echizen Yasutsugu school. This sword has a wonderful moist itame hada with chikei and jinie. The hamon is sugu/notare in ko-nie with ashi and sunagashi.

What is especially desirable about this sword is that it has a fully original and un-modified koshirae which appears to date to late-Edo. The saya nuri and tsukamaki are both intact. The menuki are large dragons in brass. The fuchigashira is a powerful set in iron of gourds and vines. The tsuba is iron mokko-gata. If someone it looking for a well preserved and complete samurai sword this would be a very good piece to consider.
