OZAKI SUKETAKA

Newly arrived, an ubu dated wakizashi by the Jo Saku smith Ozaki Suketaka. Suketaka was considered one of the luminaries if Shinshinto. A tremendously important and respected, especially well known for toranba examples such as this sword. Mei is Ozaki Nagato no Kami Suketaka, and dated Kyowa san nen hachi gatsu hi (August 1803), two years before his death in 1805. It is interesting to see that this sho matches the date of the dai shown in the Nihonto Koza. Hawatare: 1 shaku 5 sun 2 bu 58 rin (46.06 cm / 18.13″) Motohaba: 2.7 cm. Sakihaba: 2.19 cm. Kasane: 6.9 mm. Notare midare in ko nie, hataraki, kinsuji, sungashi, nado. Itame with jinie and chikei. Shirasaya with tsunoguchi and ivory hatomei. NTHK-NPO kanteisho with 77pt worksheet.
